Hello! Welcome To

Woombye Community Library

It’s free to join the library and everyone is welcome. We have a large selection of children’s and adult books. This includes a comprehensive selection of non-fiction books covering a vast number of subjects. At Woombye Community Library we offer free Wi Fi and also free use of our community computer. If you need a calm environment to work in, we have a large covered verandah area that can be used and has access to the Wi Fi. You are welcome to bring your device and connect.

Woombye Community Library is a welcoming, safe place for families and community members to come and choose a range of books. Woombye Community Library is run by a dedicated, friendly, group of volunteers with partnership support from Sunshine Coast Council. We also receive generous support from Bendigo Bank Woombye Branch, Sunshine Valley Gazette and JAG. Woombye Community Library welcomes new volunteers.

Did you Know?

When the library opened in Woombye in 1898 all the books were read by a select group of community members before going on the shelves. This form of censorship was kept in place until 1909 when a copy of Peyton Place was burned because it was considered too racey! The Library continues on in the same hall today and is a friendly and safe community facility for all.
No censorship required

Book Sale

Balcony book sales are held at Woombye Community Library three times a year. We sell books that have been culled from the shelves and books that have been donated to the library. Often these books are in near new condition. The proceeds of the sale are used to purchase new books.
